What do you think happened to Liesel’s mother? Explain your reasoning for this line of thinking.

Liesel's mother was a communist. She knew enough that her life was in danger as well as the lives of her kids. She made sure her children would be safer if she sent them to live with the Hubermann's. She probably knew it was only a matter of time before the Nazi party disposed up with her just as they had done so with her husband.
