Death’s Diary: The Parisians: Do we develop any sympathy for Death in this chapter?

There are times that "Death" has a difficult time.... particularly during the extermination of the Jews in Auschwitz. And yes, we can't help but to feel sympathy, as it is Death who must see and experience their deaths alongside them.

I shiver when I remember—as I try to de-realize it.
I blow warm air into my hands, to heat them up.
But it’s hard to keep them warm when the souls still shiver.
