It's all about persuing your dreams/treasure to the fullest, because if your heart isn't in the journey you'll get nothing in return. Santiago's quest in a journey to find a treasure of gold, but the treasure he finds is worth fat more. He finds love and wisdom; the money isn't his main concern.
