Huck also finds himself an outcast much like Jim. It also does not take long for Jim to endear himself to Huck. Huck likes Jim and he is sympathetic to Jim's predicament.

Huck feels that he and Jim are both on the run and are similar. I also believe huck doesn't want to be alone.
