Compare and contrast the character of Nate to Jim.

Nat is one of the slaves on Silias Phelps farm that takes care of Jim and believes he is being haunted by witches.Nat is not nearly as developed a character as Jim. What little we know about him indicates he is not as grounded as Jim. He doesn't have the same trust, loyalties and "goodness" that we see in Jim. Jim is also intelligent and ultimately more of an adult than anyone else in the book. Jim’s frequent acts of selflessness, his longing for his family, and his friendship with both Huck and Tom seperate him frome pretty much everycharacter in the book.
