How would you alternate the ending of the story?
I'm sorry, this is a short answer forum designed for text specific questions. We are unable to assist students with writing assignments. An alternate ending requires that you use your imagination. Possibly you wished the end would have turned out differently.... that the passers would have paid more attention, that they would have spoken up rather than looked away. Maybe the little rabbit could have alerted the "next town" right away. The novel itself is an allegory.... we're meant to learn a lesson. Thus, in my opinion, you can tweak the ending, but you cannot change it too drastically without interfering with the purpose.
