Levi survived through many reasons. Levi knew the basics of German which helped him t the camp. Levi made friends easily allowing him some good connections for food rations. Levi's formal education in chemistry allowed him to work in an indoor lab thus he escaped the brutal world of manual labour. In the lab he could steal small items to barter for food.
