The narrator is unnamed and the story is told in the third-person. Through this narrator, we are able to gain another perspective of Sonny's life and experiences. As Sonny's mentor, the narrator has a vested interest in helping Sonny make the right decisions. This same interest might also color the narrator's perspective.
