The Green Knight basically calls Gawain on wearing the belt. The Green Knight confesses who he is and that Gawain was honorable in giving back the kisses (Did Gawain and the Green Knight really kiss? yuck.) Ass for the belt, the Green Knight says that Gawain wore the belt not out of lust (perhaps Gawain just liked wearing green girdles) but "for love for your life". This makes everything okay!
