What did the Russian tell Stern at the end of the film and what did it mean?

The Russian tells Stern that they've been liberated, but he cannot give them advice as what they should do next. He tells them there are no Jews left in Poland that he knows of..... he tells them not to travel East, as they're hated there.............. then he tells them not to go West either. Then he rides away.....

The Russians words are a signal to Stern that their trials are not over.....
