Without knowing the exact scene you are referring to, I can only infer that Schindler's eyes give away the presence, or possibly a fear of the soldiers.

If it is the scene I am thinking of t would be to help you understand and grasp how the character is reacting to the events he is watching - the beginning of Schindler understanding exactly what is happening.
