Romeo and Juliet
Does Shakespeare create the characters of Lord and Lady Montague to be just awful people? Are they stage villains? Or does he paint them to be humans with normal human emotions who sometimes say things they don't mean out of anger?
Juliet's parents become enraged with her when Juliet refuses to marry Paris. They both say some pretty hurtful things to her and her father makes some pretty serious threats to her. Remember to consider the fact that Juliet has not confided in them about her marriage so they do not understand her motives for disobeying them.
