Roman Fever and Other Stories

Looking back, what clues lead you to believe Barbara is Delphin Slades daughter?

What similarities are there?

THE NAME OF THE STORY IS lOOKING BACK?

I have found albums and novels with the words "looking back" in them, but I have not found a novel referred to by this exact name.

Is this the short story by Edith Wharton called "Roman Fever?" In that story, the character Mrs. Ansley actually had rendezvous with Delphin in the Colosseum, even though Mrs. Slade made up a letter that ultimately was supposed to keep Mrs. Ansley from Delphin. Mrs. Slade tries to demonstrate superiority by saying that she had Delphin for 25 years. When Mrs. Slade says this, Mrs. Ansley says, "I had Barbara." The implication in this final sentence of the story is that Barbara is Delphin's daughter whom she has had for all these years.
