What signs or assistance are given by the gods in Section 3?
.
.
Orchilus (Hermes) acts as a guide for Priam and Somax.
When Priam realizes that Orchilus is actually Hermes, he believes that his presence is a sign of death, as Hermes is the escort of man to the underworld (afterlife).
Hermes use of the word "father" when referring to Priam is a sign of Priam's role. At this point is the text, he is not a King. He is simply a parent retrieving his child. Hermes is not escorting Priam to his death, but rather, his fallen son.
