1) In the beginning of the novel, Achilles is described as a fighter. When he isn't fighting, he is a farmer. Earth is said to be his element, as he is a child of the earth and a lover of nature. We also learn that Achilles was a son of the sea, that his mother, Thetis, came to him when he called but could never stay. Unlike his mother, Acilles was mortal.
