The proposal is a secret between them and it reveals three of the five secrets (two concerning Darcy): Jane’s love for Bingley, Darcy’s separation of Bingley from Jane, and Darcy’s love for Elizabeth. Elizabeth is extremely concerned about her younger sisters' conduct and shares this concern with her father in the book.
