I suppose jealousy and an attempt to bring down people seems appropriate. Miss. Bingley is clearly jealous of Elizabeth and Darcy. Miss. Bingley attempts to trap Elizabeth by asking her to something nice about Wickham. She knows that this will likely cause a discontent in the family.
