What is your opinion on the Boston Tea Party as a form of protest.

Question

Was it ethical? Was it an effective way to send a message to Britain? What would have made it more or less effective?

I suppose dumping tea into the Boston Harbor is better than killing people. I am not, however, a historian. This is primarily a literary forum.
