In Chapter Six, Nerburg and Dan discuss the way the Native Americans see white "civilization", as opposed to the way the whites see the the Native American's living spaces. Nerburg is appalled by the trash, old cars, tools, and furniture that lay in disorganization like they've simply been tossed and forgotten. Dan, on the other hand, notes that the Native Americans see empty parking lots and large cities in much the same way.
