explain how or why a man as evil as Hitler could be looked at by admiration by bigger

Hitler made it seem like he was doing what best for the country. Its almost like he brained washed them. Many people also knew what was going on but he was too intimidating to stop. Its almost like the super-villian in a movie that acts like hes amazing but behind the scenes is terribly cruel.
