How does Grandpa feel about Hiram leaving Greenwood?

Grandpa is sad that Hiram is leaving, but he refuses to acknowledge what has happened..... he pretends as is nothing has happened. After hugging Hiram goodbye, Grandpa is unable to take him to the airport. His leaving was devastating enough.
