The three societies is question are the ancient Greeks, the Jews of the Old Testament, and the Christian teachers of the Middle Ages. The one thing that each of these societies condemned was investment (money lending and usury). As evidenced by the state of our economy, we can see that borrowing and paying high interest rates has put many countries in a state a emergency.
