In book 4 chapter 2, what affect does having wrong ideas about life have on a person or culture?
Much of this chapter is devoted to the creation/evolution debate. Lewis claims that believing Science can explain the origins of man is faulty logic. According to Lewis, the "church of science" is unable to explain the essence of man. Believing that science holds all the answers to the universe is misplaced and harmful to society and culture. The divine gives culture purpose and meaning. Man cannot find the deeper truths through science: he must look to something higher (God).
