What do we learn about Frank’s personality in the encounter with the bear?

Frank was calm and collected when the encountered the bear. He was scared but refused to show his fear to the bear. Frank was so knowledgeable about wildlife, he learned from the Old Man, that he knew they could not turn their backs on the bear. Instead Frank held his ground and looked as big as possible. Frank was calm and brave enough to ward off the bear from attacking.
