Q3. Why do you think Vladek gets upset when Mala offers Artie a wire rather than a wooden coat-hanger?

Vladek thinks wire hangars are more expensive than wooden ones. Vladek is miserly which comes partly from having nothing during war time. He doesn't want things being used so he objects to Artie getting "nice" hangers after being absent from his life for so long,

“A WIRE hanger you give him! I haven’t seen Artie in almost two years. We have plenty of WOODEN hangers.”
