Here Malcolm has just tested Macduff's loyalty. Having been convinced of it, he comes clean about his true self. He isn't a thief, is loyal to his friends and is apparently a virgin. Malcolm is still pretty green behind the ears. Although he lacks the assertiveness of a king, he seems like a decent guy and fair king.
