Why do you think they choose Ralph as leader?

Ralph was a bigger boy for his age and good looking which the boys gravitate to. Ralph represents adulthood in a way. Ralph also had a calm kindness about him which the other boys sensed. “there was a mildness about his mouth and eyes that proclaimed no devil.”
