Why did Ralph plan to visit Jack and his boys on their side of the island and how dos he get side tracked fro. His original purpose.

Ralph planned his visit to Jack's side of the island in order to remind Jack of his rightful authority and retrieve Piggy's glasses. He gets sidetracked when Jack's boys throw rocks at them, and again when Jack and the others return with a fresh kill..... only to end with Ralph and Jack getting into a physical fight. Only Piggy reminds Ralph that getting back his glasses..... and the abililty to make fire was their true purpose.
