Lord of the Flies

When Ralph tries to intervene, Jack accuses him of “just giving orders that don’t make any sense?” (p. 91) Do Ralph’s rules make sense? What would you argue on Jack’s side or on Ralph’s? Why?...

Ralph's rules are all they have. Although Ralph is a responsible leader, Jack is more effective at manipulation. Jack knows how to control and manipulate the boys which is a skill that many successful politicians have. Ralph's rules are good for the boy's to function as a society but the boys prefer what Jack offers.
