Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies Q.

One of the Littluns, Phil, adds to the fear of a beast because he had a nightmare about the “twisty things in the trees,” but once he was awake, he “saw something moving among the trees, something big and horrid” (p. 84-85). He clarifies, “I was asleep when the twisty things were fighting and when they went away I was awake, and I saw something big and horrid moving in the trees” (p. 85). It is determined that what he saw was not a beast but what/whom?...

That would be Simon venturing into the jungle at night. Simon does not fear an external beast.
