Lord of the Flies
How does Piggy feel about the fire on the hill?
Lof
Lof
Piggy thinks they have built a fire that they cannot possibly control or keep going. The chaos of the scene unnerves Piggy. Piggy is watching the boys dance around the giant fire, "Piggy glanced nervously into hell and cradled the conch." For a guy like Piggy and, to a lesser extent Ralph, this is literally and symbolically Hell. It is a place where disorder and destruction rule. You might also want to work in the Pig's head on the stick "The Lord of the Flies" (Beelzebub) and Simon, Golding's Christ figure, arriving at the top of the mountain and having his point of enlightenment.
