I'm not sure exactly what part in ch 6 you are referring to. I'm thinking you mean Ralph's insistence on lighting the signal fire and someone telling Piggy where they are. This shows Ralph's sense of responsibility. He never loses sight of what needs to be done to get rescued. He also shows a concern for Piggy who he is becoming closer to.
