It goes along with the opposing forces quote

King fears that his "white brothers" will dismiss the non-violent protests, which will create further interest in "black-nationalist ideologies a development that would inevitably lead to a frightening racial nightmare." King wants blacks to channel their discontent "into the creative outlet of nonviolent direct action."
