How accurate are Alan’s recollections of living with his father

Alan's recollection aren't accurate.... they're wishful thinking. The father-son relationship is a major theme in this play. Alan's whole life he's wanted to come live with his dad, who his mother didn't want him to live with. Once Alan arrives his expectations are met with the reality of who his father is: a womanizing, demanding, selfish, assuming person. The same man who left him and his mother, and abandoned his mom when she had a stillborn child by being out with another woman as she gave birth to a dead child.
