Who are the most important people in June's life, and how do they affect her choices?

The most important person in June's life is her brother, Mathias. At the beginning of the novel, we learn that Mathias and June have been on their own since their parent's death. When Mathias dies, June's life is turned upside down, and all her decisions after his murder are a direct result of her love for him.
