Students will be able to attempt to imitate Whitman's signature poetic style

Structure:
Students should look at Whitman's poems about America and democracy ("America," certainly, but also "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry," "For You, O Democracy," and a number of others), and discuss Whitman's assessment of the country. What does Whitman love about America? How does he explain and express this love?
