This question calls for your opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. Possibly Chief Chowig might have insisted upon partial payment up front, possibly the tribe might have run Orlov off the island before they slaughtered such a large number of otter. Regardless, here was little Chowig coud have done. Orlov's ship had cannons, and his men had guns.... a fight was inevitable.
