Explain the narrator's change in attitude between the prologue and the epilogue.

At the start, the narrator sees his destiny as connected to others, namely, Norton, Jack, and Bledsoe. In the epilogue, we see that he has finally come to the realization that these men aren't connected..... his destiny only depends upon overcoming the struggle within himself.
