Why doesn’t Saul fight back? What does he think would happen if he did?

Fighting is not part of Saul's game. Saul is a finesse player who turns hockey into an art if not a spiritual experience. Fighting destroys Saul's game. Saul looses his "vision" of hockey if he fights.
