In chapter 3 Saul said "So I grew up afraid of the white man. As it turned out, I had reason to be". What are the things that happened with Saul in Chapter 31 that was a reason of Saul's fear of white men?

The Moose were winning in the white hockey league. In chapter 31, at a diner, local men pull each team member out to the alley. They beat them up and then urinate on them. Saul is spared this humiliation because of hias age and hockey skills but he is still traumatized by it.
