How are the police able to determine the order in which the Clutter family members were murdered?

Dr Robert Fenton used the body temperatures of the victims to theorize the order of execution. His findings were that the family was killed in the following order; Mrs Clutter, Nancy, Kenyon, and lastly Mr Clutter.
