The first obstacle was money, as Malala's father refused to help pay for living expenses while he was at college. Then, grandfather mentioned an uncle he might stay with, but the uncle refused. Luckily, one of his aunt's relatives by marriage, a man called Nasir Pacha, offered him a place in their home.
