Malala was worried about her father and her medical fees.

Fiona Alexander was in charge of the hospital press office. She told Malala about the attention attracted by the shooting (as many as 250 journalists came to the hospital from as far away as Australia and Japan), and Malala was very surprised. Fiona knew exactly how to feed the media material and stop them trying to get in.

Rehanna was the Muslim chaplain who said prayers in Urdu and recited verses of the Quran to Malala. Malala was soothed by her spiritual therapy.
