House on Mango Street
What is significant or ironic about the neighborhood kids “waving as he {Louie’s other cousin] drove away” (25)?
(Hint- think about what he was driving away from) section: Louie, His Cousin and His Other Cousin
(Hint- think about what he was driving away from) section: Louie, His Cousin and His Other Cousin
The scene is ironic because the children have just been impressed by a ride in a "stolen" car. Louie impressed the children by having a car..... they had no idea it was stolen, thus, there was acrually nothing to be impressed by.
