Does anyone care about the Vargas kids? What happened to Angel Vargas?

The mother of the Vargas children primarily ignores them. She is too busy immersing herself in the sadness caused by her husband's abandonment of the family. Initially, the people in the neighborhood feel sorry for the children and try to help out..... correcting their bad behavior. Eventually, however, they get tired of trying..... and simply cease caring.
