Heart of Darkness has two narrators. The first we don't know; he/she is anonymous, simply a passenger on a ship who has heard Marlowe tell his story. This narrator speaks in the first-person plural. Four separate passengers have been represented through this narrator.

Marlowe is our second narrator. He speaks in the first person about things that he himself had either experienced first hand or witnessed.
