Hamlet puts on “antic disposition” in the play. Why is he doing this?

Hamlet claims he is going to act crazy (antic disposition) in order to somehow prove that Claudius is the murderer of his father and usurper of the throne. He feels that he can get away with doing and saying more things against the King if he is percieved as mentaly imbalanced.
