The roads in Salmouth were very narrow, the alleys were cobble-stoned, and there was an old pub call the Captain Morgan. The dock was "tiny", an "ancient, wooden quay", there was a fishmonger, as well as a shop filled with "sea things" like fishing tackle, compasses, and longjohns. Saling boats dotted the horizon.
