The environment resembles a sort of medieval future. That sounds strange but the people and village resemble something out of a Shakespearean village except for a small group of officials, known as the Council of Guardians. They rule over the people. The Guardians live in the only modern structure in the village, the Edifice, where they administer the laws and maintain their history using some pretty strange rituals.
