In friday night light what is the mood?

The mood is different throughout the book. At times it is depressing like when Booby Miles hurts his knee and his football dreams come crashing down. At other times it is reflective like when Bissinger explores race relations in Odessa. It can also be exciting when the author describes the many games that Permian plays.
